Rut 01:39
I remember how things came and went Before our time was to dissolve Like a cutting blade to the chin Leaves no scar, we can never tell Before, you were never aware That anything mattered at all That anything mattered at all Before you came along Chorus: I can never think to myself before this time this rut you found me in before this time I can never think to myself Before this time Before this time Bridge: There and back, and over again There and back, and over again There and back, and over again There and back, and over again You look for acceptance For a feeling that won’t hold you back But you won’t hold it back You look around But step out of bounds, and poison your words Step out of your rut

Slew Foot 02:09
Verse 1: We’re looking for power It’s in your hands, I tried to take it away I hope you understand But if you don’t I won’t owe you shit Verse 2: I won’t hold it against you But I’ve got a million questions to ask My word against yours Which has the power to last We’re looking for power It’s in your hands It’s time to move on over I hope you understand Chorus: Move on over, or we’ll move on over you Move on over, or we’ll move on over you Move on over, or we’ll move on over you Move on over, or we’ll move on over you Fast chorus: Yeah, we got power, yeah we got power, yeah we got power, yeah Yeah, we got power, yeah We got power Verse 3: We’re looking for power It’s in your hands I’ll never look back It’s in your hands I should’ve known before Why did I even ask? It’s time to move on over I hope you understand Chorus: Move on over, or we’ll move on over you Move on over, or we’ll move on over you Move on over, or we’ll move on over you Move on over, or we’ll move on over you Outro: I can’t just place my hopes in you It’s just something I can’t do

Sombras 02:18
First Verse: I’ve broken many fences, left ‘em all behind In a hundred places, I sacrificed every time Grab another piece of me To leave it all behind Bridge: What you don’t know tears away at me But I refuse to close my eyes, to speak of dignities denied If I can’t paint my world to testify If I can’t paint my world to testify Chorus: Alone in a crowd and I can see your throwing shade all over me, You run and speak from behind, sombras protect from my enemies Your never holding it down, never holding it down, yea, Never holding it down for what we could achieve Second Verse: Your uniform is a fiction, I can see the disguise You try to play my side, but we can see what you hide Turn your head all you want to the misery I guess it’s what we’ll call your ability To choose the view that keeps your pride Outro: And what you don’t know, tears away at me But I refuse to close my eyes, to speak of dignities denied If I can’t paint my world To testify If I can’t paint my world To testify, testify, to testify To testify, to testify, to testify To testify what it means
4.
Anos 01:58
Verse: Time slips away And I’m left with another regret To feel the words you say To speak like we’ll never forget Chorus: What’s in front of me, is what I can’t see I feel like I’ve wasted my time to decide My stutter step has failed me again Been hanging onto fear, when you’ve always been near Been hanging onto fear, when you’ve always been near Verse: Time slips away And I’m left with another regret To feel the words you say To speak like we’ll never forget Chorus: What’s in front of me, is what I can’t see I feel like I’ve wasted my time to decide My stutter step has failed me again Been hanging onto fear, when you’ve always been near Been hanging onto fear, when you’ve always been near Es el miedo que no puedo ver, y no lo se Es el miedo que no puedo ver, y no lo se

Vallejo 01:32
These fences we climb They mediate our minds I try to wash my hands clean From this residue of lies Chorus: There’s a barrio in every place There’s a barrio in every place Of our mind There’s a barrio in every place There’s a barrio in every place By design These fences we climb They mediate our minds Try to wash my hands clean Take back control of our minds These fences we climb They mediate our minds Try to wash my hands clean From this residue of lies Chorus: There’s a barrio in every place There’s a barrio in every place Of our mind There’s a barrio in every place There’s a barrio in every place By design These fences we climb they mediate our minds try to wash my hands clean Take back control of our minds These fences we climb They mediate our minds Try to wash my hands clean From this residue of lies

Narrow 01:14
These cages are meant To calm your fears Pay no mind to the bodies inside, and the lives that came across Because they helped you lay aside, while the lines got crossed It’s a narrow line, is it yours or mine while you were blind, we confined It’s a narrow line, is it yours or mine while you were blind, we confined Our brothers will ask many questions About our landscapes of repression Pay no mind to the bodies inside, and the lives that came across Because they helped you lay aside, while the lines got crossed It’s a narrow line, is it yours or mine while you were blind, we confined It’s a narrow line, is it yours or mine while you were blind, we confined

Trucha 02:26
Boulevards never burned so bright in a flame of rage But I need to know what amount people have to pay To feed your concept of sacrifice Our scars are more than plenty to pay your price Chorus: But what ignites your fight That has to do with me Look around, heads up, head down This is what I see But what ignites your fight That has to do with me Look around, heads up, head down This is what I see You talk about strength, but it bares no reality Comfort in your demons, we can always spare more Alertness comes from experience, not from security There’s an escape for you, it don’t exist for me Chorus: But what ignites your fight That has to do with me Look around, heads up, head down This is what I see But what ignites your fight That has to do with me Look around, heads up, head down This is what I see Talking part: You know, I couldn’t help notice, that you look at me like I don’t belong, walking the same damn streets you do. It’s as if you couldn’t be bothered by others who don’t make you feel comfortable or at ease with yourself. I’m not going anywhere, you can price me out, fence me in, we’ll still be here. Chorus: But what ignites your fight That has to do with me Look around, heads up, head down This is what I see But what ignites your fight That has to do with me Look around, heads up, head down!

Capital 03:28
Field the wheels of profit, without no loss Bodies are broken, banks and money--our cross Yet a million arms, carried the world today I’m thinking it could never be fair, to clean the world into our own despair I’m thinking it could never be fair, to clean the world at their own despair Spurned by wheels of capital That churn, that churn, that burn, that spurn I’m thinking it could never be fair, to clean the world at their own despair I’m thinking it could never be fair, to clean the world at their own despair

about

Hailing from the center and the sprawl of Southern California, MARRÓN takes its chief inspiration from the area’s highly racialized landscape of inequity, tragedy, and beauty. But while SoCal is the home, DC hardcore rings throughout the chords, and these veteran members of bands such as ESPERANZA, MUGRE, and DESCARADOS bring a new kind of fire to their emotive sound. Owing as much influence to bands like SWIZ as to the political writings of ALBERT MEMMI, MARRÓN brings a new wave of sound and race-critical perspectives to punk and hardcore that will make you want to dance and decolonize! However, you will need none of these references to be moved by the music contained in this record.
